FWC meeting in Gainesville 2/21/19
At its February meeting, the Commission approved rule changes regarding FWC-managed public hunting areas as well as statewide hunting proposals, including many dealing with deer hunting.
Draft rule amendments for changes to hunting regulations were approved by the Commission at the December 2018 Commission meeting. Rule changes are based on requests from staff, cooperators and stakeholders. Stakeholder input on proposed changes was sought throughout the rule-making process to achieve regulations based on hunter preference and sound science to ensure sustainability. |
4th generation dog hunters, 7 yr old twins spoke publicly at the meeting, asking the FWC Commissioners to support youth being able to use dogs during the proposed youth hunts. FWC passed the new rule for the new you hunt to be on the first or second weekend of muzzle loader season, which allow youth to take any legal deer by any means possible include dogs. FWC always asks the audience to hold applause after individuals speak, but the entire audience applauded them after speaking. FWC congratulated them for there speaking and about how they are other children are the future of Florida hunters. FWC Commissioners also took photos with them after the meeting.
